2019 YA Releases I'm Looking Forward To

There are dozens of new books coming out in the upcoming year that I am excited for. Here is my top-four list of books that will be arriving in the new year!

1. Two Can Keep A Secret by Karen M. McManus:

After knocking it out of the park with her debut One Of Us Is Lying, McManus is back with a new story. I am so excited to read another one of her mysteries, but quite frankly, I would read her grocery lists. While McManus will be releasing a sequel to One Of Us Is Lying in 2020, Two Can Keep A Secret will come first in January of 2019 and follows a young girl named Ellery in Echo Ridge, a town famous for a murder at the homecoming dance many years ago.

2. Children of Virtue and Vengeance by Tomi Adeyemi:

Children of Blood and Bone was a big hit, and it was Adeyemi's debut novel, another rare situation similar to McManus's One Of Us Is Lying success. However, Children of Blood and Bone is a fantasy novel rather than a murder mystery, and it will follow Zélie after the events of book one (none of which will be spoiled here--go read it for yourself!) Book two is due out in March of 2019.

3. Finale by Stephanie Garber

Another fantasy expected in 2019 is Finale by Stephanie Garber, and it is the third installment of Caraval. Caraval came out in January of 2017 and was a huge success with YA audiences, and it was quickly followed up by Legendary. Now, in May, we will have the final book in the trilogy to bring the story to completion. (Again, no spoilers! Go read books one and two to prepare yourselves!)

4. On The Come Up by Angie Thomas

The Hate U Give was one of the most powerful books I've read, and it made waves not only in the YA community but in the world as a whole. On the Come Up is Thomas's second book, and while it is not a sequel to The Hate U Give, it reportedly takes place in the same universe, following a sixteen-year-old aspiring rapper named Bri. I can't wait to get my hands on this book in February of 2019!

What new releases are you keeping on your radar for the new year?

Happy reading!
